Is Your Love Nest In Flames?

“I had gone to him as my inner child, with beggar bowl in hand—extended for his love, acceptance, my worth and significance. What I received was the exact opposite of what I had so doggedly sought.

Years later I realized the truth was—no one could ever give that to me—but ME. Knowing this has set me free. But, like a fledgling bird leaving the nest, I am dazed and not quite sure of exactly what comes next. I do know I am not alone. Now, unfettered, the world is open to my openness. Where will this lead me?

My head already aches—so for now, I will leave this question in the ether. Today I will have a gentle day.” (An old excerpt from one of my journals)

Some of our most challenging and tumultuous relationships act as constant triggers to our grieving inner child. They serve to tear us down—clearing space for new growth. Rarely can that growth be nurtured and sustained though if we cling to that relationship. If this is you too—fly away little bird. The nest has served its purpose.

Although your childhood was filled with dysfunction it doesn’t mean your adult relationships are doomed to that. You can read Chapter 9 this week ‘Healthy Relationships–To Dream The (Not) Impossible Dream.’ It’s  there for you in my book WORTHY A Personal Guide for Healing Your Childhood Trauma and its companion Workbook at Amazon now—

I’ll be there to hold your hand, every step of the way.
