Loving Your Wounded Inner Child

One of the most debilitating burdens of our dysfunctional upbringing is the effect it continues to have on our level of clarity. Do we choose what’s behind door number one, two or three? Our confusion about how things are supposed to be handled are a constant source of dismay.

The skewed behaviors modeled by our primary crazymakers—i.e. parents—when applied outside our family circle seemed to create more problems than they ever solved. But it was all we had to work with—all we knew—and thus we carried them all the way into our adult lives and relationships.

Relationships, of all stripes, are the most confusing of all. Oddly, yelling, blaming and assuming, rather than asking, just don’t cut it as we try to connect our heart to another’s.

The beauty of recovery is the life-giving effect of clarity. After a lifetime of confusion our heart swells with gratitude with each new challenge, as we discover, to our delight, that we know exactly what to do, what to say, how to handle any given situation.

Recovery is so much more than just that 50-minute appointment once a week and a daily magical pill. Recovery takes commitment— to YOURSELF!

Let this be the day you reach down deep within yourself and tenderly take the hand of your frightened, wounded inner child. They want nothing more than your unconditional love and acceptance. You remember what that was like, don’t you?  Start with WORTHY and its companion Workbook >>>
